PNG uses up to 256, 128 or 64 colors for Best Quality, Balanced or Maximum Compression. This may alter colors and translucent edges. Transparency is supported; the original is kept if no smaller file is produced.
Private by design
Your images are processed locally in your browser. They are not uploaded to XtremTools for compression.
Dimensions and file formats are preserved. JPEG/WebP quality and PNG colors may change; color profiles and metadata may be removed. Animated images are not supported. Results depend on your browser and the original image.
Choose the right balance for your images
Use compression for website photos or email attachments when the dimensions are already right. Start with Balanced, then inspect fine text and edges before choosing stronger JPEG or WebP compression.
PNG compression reduces the color palette while keeping the dimensions and PNG format. Stronger levels may alter gradients, colors and translucent edges: inspect the result before sharing. If compression produces no smaller file, the original is kept.
- Resize an oversized image first

Try WebP for a web image, or PNG when transparency and sharp graphics matter.
